Role Overview:
Your primary objective is to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants, and other internal and external customers through the efficient maintenance of airport assets. This involves adhering to company processes and contributing to the continuous improvement of the maintenance service.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Promote a security culture by adhering to the security policy, Managing Responsibly System (MRS), and Security Management System (SeMS).
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on engineering assets to meet customer service levels and comply with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Department for Transport (DFT) regulations. This includes assessing assets that do not meet performance standards, reporting necessary remedial actions, and performing the required work.
- Perform tasks requiring technical competence in Building Service Engineering as per CIBSE guidelines, or other disciplines where you have expertise.
- Utilize company IT and work management systems to receive, close work orders, and enter accurate data. Use maintenance system data to evaluate individual, team, and asset performance.
- Update engineering and operating records to comply with business, regulatory, and manufacturer requirements. Issue and cancel permits as directed by the Asset Management team.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment, contributing to a safety culture while adhering to mandatory regulations and procedures.
- Participate actively in efforts to improve performance within the engineering environment.
- Communicate progress and completion of work effectively to customers. Collaborate with technical service providers to minimize facility downtime.
- Work with colleagues or apprentices to enhance their technical skills and personal development.
- Upgrade skills proactively to maintain and operate new assets according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Maintain stock levels at local stores and arrange the return of repairable items to service centers or manufacturers using company IT systems.
- Supervise and escort contractors on site to ensure compliance with company safety and technical standards. Instruct personnel in the safe use of electrical equipment and advise on hazards from improper operation.
- Ensure personal and team compliance with Health and Safety, Security, and Environment/Sustainable Development Policies to minimize risks.
- Comply with all legal and statutory obligations relevant to the role.
- Implement and adhere to company systems and procedures.
- Perform additional duties for personal development or as required by the company.
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support to ensure critical equipment availability for passenger processing.
