Our client is looking for a bright Engineer who has passion for quality, and is more than open to invest in growing a talent in the team. The role is to manage their APQP process, drive changes internally and represent the customer's view to both R&D (local) and production (overseas).

We are looking for an Aspiring Quality Engineer who is looking for a step up and eventually take the lead across the business for all things APQP. You’ll be driving the Product Quality Planning activities for new product development, spanning from customer concept through to serial production.

The role is based in Surrey with frequent national and international travel, primarily to China /Europe depending on the needs of the active projects.

They offer flexitime although the preference is for people to be around as much as possible. 

Key areas of interest are:

  • Tier 1 or OEM
  • APQP
  • DFMEA, PFMEA, Control plans, MSA, PPAP, SPC
  • Trained or working towards internal auditor for ISO9001 minimum – ideally IATF 16949
  • Working with Customers, handling problem resolution
  • Preparation of 8D documentation
  • RCA

This is very much a role where you will be championing CI across the business so great communication skills, confidence and the ability to influence are needed.

Relevant Knowledge & Experience

Essential:
• Automotive experience, ideally in tier 1 and OEM
• Knowledge of APQP - Advanced Product Quality Planning and / or similar approaches within the Automotive industry
• Some familiarity of tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, Control plans, MSA, PPAP, SPC
• Confident in working directly with Customers, especially in handling problem resolution
• Able to prepare 8D documentation
• Root cause analysis (able to facilitate and guide in tools such as 5 whys, Ishikawa, cause and effect)
• Able to manage conflicting tasks, priorities and a demanding workload

Desirable:
• Ability to use tools such as Minitab, Excel, JIRA, Confluence, MS Project
• Understanding of other Automotive standards such as ISO26262, A-SPICE, TISAX

This position would suit a Quality Engineer who has excellent communication skills, an inclusive approach and the ability to influence others.
