Senior Simulation Engineer

​Our Engineering consultancy client are seeking a Senior Simulation Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

As part of this role, you will produce mock-ups, models or other preliminary versions of design concepts and final designs; analyses, records, compiles and reports the results of prototype tests and evaluations to support problem finding and solving around technical aspects such as feasibility, debugging and design ease of manufacture. You will establish trial procedures to ensure compliance with the organization's protocols and standards and regulatory requirements, and maintain trial data and quality assurance procedures according to regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• To assess analysis scope from customer’s requirements and provide technical input to agree the analysis requirements with senior managers within agreed timescales

• To analyse components, systems and products using various analysis tools and techniques to meet the customer’s requirements and specification

• To understand and use first principles of engineering to provide hand calculations to qualify any analysis work undertaken

• To Interpret analysis results and provide design direction where necessary supported by analysis reports

• To chair technical meetings with customers ensuring all actions are completed

• To train and support our customers and assist our less experienced analysis engineers when required

• To help develop CAE standards and processes across the Design and Analysis function

• To Liaise with external and internal customers providing help desk support when required to resolve technical problems with analysis jobs

• To monitor the use of CAE tools and lead the development of them where necessary in collaboration with your manager

• To support the sales team in seeking out new business and marketing opportunities

• To write reports, documentation and present the data at all levels across the organisation

• To Interface directly with clients on technical issues when required

• Create analysis proposals for prospective customers detailing the extent of work and any specific requirements

• Create analysis models that can be used in the future on similar components and systems

• To provide support and advise to team members who are less experienced

• Any other tasks that are reasonably assigned to you by your line manager, including development activities, which are within your capability and grade

Key skills & experience;

• BEng in automotive / mechanical/ aerospace

• Experience of Abaqus/CAE or Abaqus for CATIA

• Experience in a consulting environment working on diverse and complex design/analysis projects

• Knowledge of materials and their properties and their use in engineering design and analysis

• Experienced user in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)

• Broad experience of mechanical systems and their responses

• Able to demonstrate problem solving techniques

• Modelling using CATIA v6

• Experience of Modelling using CATIA v5

• Catia V5 analysis / Catia V6 analysis
