Our Lighting manufacturing client based in Basingstoke are looking to recruit a QHSE Manager as part of their Operations team reporting directly to the Operations Director.

The role will cover all aspects of Quality from; product quality, supplier quality and QMS as well as Health & Safety and Environmental.

Sustainability is very important to the company and improving waste streams, being carbon neutral are clear goals as the business grows.

To be suitable for this role you will come from a production / manufacturing environment background, ideally within electrical, electronics or electromech assembly.

H&S qualifications such as NEBOSH would be ideal as well as a Degree or equivalent from work experience.

The role has real development potential, being the support to the Operations Director and would suit someone looking for a new challenge, future growth within the business.

Purpose of Role

Responsible for the day to day management and continual improvement of the Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental policies and processes for the business. Within the role you will ensure compliance and certification of relevant standards as well as setting the Safety, Environmental and Quality strategies for the business.

With a Continuous Improvement and customer focused approach you’ll set, monitor and report against KPI’s, and regularly review procedures to ensure an effective and efficient operation leading the company on its drive to be a more sustainable manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities

•Be the Company Lead for all Quality, Safety & Environmental activities. Responsible for setting the strategic direction, ensuring that the business operates within the current framework, policies and to the highest standards.

•Maintain and develop systems which ensure that risks are being managed in accordance with legal, statutory and contractual requirements.

•Development and delivery of health and safety induction and health & safety, environment, energy and quality training to new and current colleagues.

•Accident investigation and reduction of risk of reoccurrence by root cause analysis, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.

•Conducting monthly site audits, identifying improvements

•Auditing ISO 9001 and maintaining the quality system.

•Maintaining regulatory compliance - REACH, RoHS, RMI and IMDS

•Provide guidance and support to the management team on best practices in relation to health, safety, and environmental matters. Drive the continuous improvement of employee health, safety, welfare and environmental issues through promotion and communication

•Establish, embed and deliver KPI’s within the organization

•Company lead for establishing and executing sustainability initiatives in support of Group strategy.

•Manage NCR’s working with both internal and external teams to improve component and product quality.

•Ensure that employees and contractors receive the appropriate training in relation to Safety, Environment, and Quality.

•Carry out manual handling assessments, risk assessments and consider how risks can be reduced

•Preparation of RAMS for off-site activities.

•Participate in both internal and external audits.

•Complete PQQ’s in an accurate and timely manner

Essential Requirements/Experience

•An excellent understanding of manufacturing and associated techniques (5S/Lean).

•In depth knowledge of H&S and ISO standards

•Quality Management experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.

•Previous proven man-management experience; this should include such activities as support, leadership, discipline and performance reviews.

•Capability to make decisions and take required actions.

• Coaching and training individuals and teams

•Good communication skills.

•Previous audit experience.

•Strong analytical & reporting skills

•Good organisational skills – ability to multi-task, delegate and facilitate.

•Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Excel


•Ideally Degree qualified in a Technical or Engineering based subject but equivalency through experience will be considered

•IEMA Membership or Practitioner preferred

•NEBOSH Diploma or General certificate

Working Hours: to be agreed to provide attendance allowing the above security responsibilities to be fulfilled for the Site working hours

•08:00 – 17:00 Monday – Thursday

•08:00 – 16:30 Friday
