Machine Maintenance Engineer - Materials / Nanotechnology

​Our client are a global technology solutions provider, supporting a range of industries with specialist Nano coatings. As a technology business, they invest heavily in R&D where there are several vacuum-based plasma deposition tools in constant use by the team. It is essential that these machines are both production viable and maintained to a high standard to ensure the work carried out on them is relevant and can be quickly transferred to the engineering team.

He/she will be an excellent communicator and will ultimately ensure that their complex & innovative technology is implemented and maintained efficiently and within the parameters defined. All day-to-day technical problems will be resolved effectively to optimise the availability and performance of the machines. He/she will have daily contact with the R&D team and will ensure the compliance is to quality standards such as P2i’s QMS and ISO 9001 - 2008.

In addition, there will be development projects looking at re-designing the systems and trialling new hardware as the individual projects dictate.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure all machines are built to the correct/desired standard and are validated for use

• Schedule and carry out regular preventative maintenance

• Hands-on resolution of day-to-day technical problems

• Work closely with all R&D team to understand hardware requirements and schedule work as appropriate with the company’s priorities

• Assisting the Engineering, Service & Support and Manufacturing teams as and when required.

Other Requirements:

• Academic qualification in electrical safety desirable

• Knowledge of machine maintenance, upgrade retrofits and validation

• 3 phase electrical engineering in an industrial environment

• Vacuum processing technology / semi-conductor industry

• Process development

• Plasma and deposition tools

• RF matching networks

• Report writing, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

• Implementation of QA / QC procedures

• Organisational awareness and commitment
