You’ll be joining around 70 R&D Engineers all working on the design, development and support of cutting-edge technology, specifically used to advance the pursuit of clean renewable energy. 

You’ll be working in a dedicated software team within the R&D department and working closely with the custom projects team, helping create reliable embedded software that is deployed in harsh conditions over long periods of time. As such, size and power restrictions play an important part in the design and so a good understanding of how to maximise performance is of interest. 

Although not designing electronic circuits you should be able to read a circuit diagram and be used to working with bare metal in a RTOS environment. Any exposure to ARM processors or Linux would be a welcome bonus. Previous experience of data logging or data acquisition systems would be of interest. This position offers a lot of variety and the chance to work on new development projects on a regular basis. 

We are ideally looking for:

  • Comprehensive experience of C & C++ in an embedded environment

  • Embedded Linux

  • Some industrial experience

  • Real time operating systems / bare metal development

  • Optimisation for power on embedded platforms

  • Source control, e.g. Git, Surround Acoustic principles and theory

  • Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) including the following disciplines: Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
