£40-50k, possibly £50-60k bracket for a more Senior Engineer

We are looking for a Design Engineer who is experienced at both enclosure design, thermal management (using ANSYS) and who is comfortable in a hands on role and happy to be onsite 4 or more days a week to support the internal Power Electronics development project.

This exciting role will be focused on a range of NPI projects intending to deliver cutting edge high-speed electrified turbomachinery, including electrified turbochargers and compressors for both automotive and land-based applications.

Technically we are seeking an Engineer proficient in complex assemblies using Solidworks, with experience of (or at least exposure to) Power Electronics installation and routing best practices.

Ideally you would also have a good Mechanical background, but areas such as manufacturing (of items such as sheet metal/bus bars) and structural/thermal analysis of assemblies (including fabricated assemblies) are of interest.

Specific areas of interest:


•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, automotive, power engineering or similar.

•Strong background in a mechanical design/analysis engineering role, covering cast/machined part design and complex assemblies, ideally related to power electronics cabinet design and housing of electrical cables/busbars . Experience of thermal dissipation with heat sinks would be ideal.

•Experience of NPI lifecycles.

•On site a minimum of 4 days per week (ideally 5)

•Proficient in complex assemblies using SolidWorks and delivery of detailed manufacturing drawings

•Experience of concept through to detailed design for packaging, cable routing and cooling of (power?) electronics, specifically forced air cooling of MOSFETs via heatsinks and cooling of magnetics.

•Experience of hands electro-mechanical build and test.

•Experience interacting with Electrical hardware designers to balance mechanical and electrical requirements.

•Experience with ANSYS Fluent OR CFX

•Understanding of creepage and clearance considerations up to 1000V


•Good general mechanical background

•Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing

•Experience of liquid cooling of parts

•Knowledge of potting compounds for thermal management
