Data & Insight Researcher - Future Mobility Research & Planning

​I am currently seeking a Data & Insights Researcher to join our Global R&D client in their Advanced Planning and Research team. This role will focus on a combination of sensing, scenario planning & behavioural research, and you will work closely with an Emerging Technology Team to identify new and emerging opportunities that deliver genuine societal value, unique technology, and business sustainability.

This position requires the successful candidate to conduct targeted research focused on emerging trends and technologies across a variety of areas (PESTEL) and will combine desk-based research, data driven methodologies and industry engagement. Key activities will include conducting in-depth topic reviews, providing evidenced insight through data driven methods, anticipating future trends, evaluating current and future market and economic situations, and identifying future risks and opportunities. This will be supported by coherent documentation creation to enable key insights to be shared and disseminated to a range of audiences.

Stakeholder management is a key requirement, ensuring high quality and agreed timelines are met. Strong communication skills are essential for building working relationships and to develop a comprehensive network both within and outside of the company.

Finally, you will have a passion for solving societal problems by developing actionable insight though the blending of the latest research with data driven methodologies.

Main Responsibilities:

•Research and explore new/emerging trends across all areas of PESTEL specifically considering the future societal implications.

•Use data analysis tools and techniques to collate key economic, sociological, and geographical datasets, among others, and derive evidence-based insights relevant to core areas of interest.

•Create detailed documentation on topic deep dives which include assessments of the current evolving landscapes, future market direction and identification and assessment of the risks & opportunities.

•Monitor and track new funding (UK focus), VC trends and engagement opportunities for wider business.

•Active engagement in workshops, networking, and seminars to support development and access to the wider UK ecosystem.

•The role will require occasional travel in both UK & EU, to attend conferences, suppliers, workshops & seminars.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Required

•University degree-level (or equivalent) within social sciences, data science, technology, or a related discipline.

•Strong proficiency in data analytics and insights, including experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.

•Robust research capability and methodologies to distil key insights from complex multi-domain data sources.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to document simple narratives to explain complex issues/systems and be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.

•Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•Extensive knowledge of MS office suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word).

Desirable

•Strong interest in the interplay between technology and society and a desire to further develop their knowledge.

•Experience in one or more of the following areas would be desirable:
