Never one to make a promise unless he can deliver on it, Paul understands the challenges of specialist recruitment, has insight into the availability of talent for hard-to-fill vacancies, and is skilled at finding solutions. He has enjoyed outstanding success finding the right candidates for demanding assignments, and in guiding candidates to clients they may not have been aware of but will want to work for.
Paul began his career in technical banking recruitment in the City of London in 2000. He spent six years hiring in that sector before moving his family to the South Coast where he spent some time working as an internal recruiter for IBM before helping to set up a managed account for ARM, where he met and worked closely with our founders. He joined Gerrell & Hard in 2012.

Paul is a full lifecycle recruiter who manages and grows accounts, works with candidates and helps to win new business. He is heavily involved in future technology and smart cities and is passionate about the technologies, people and opportunities of these burgeoning fields. It’s a sector he has become knowledgeable about, primarily by “leaning from the best – the people I talk to every day.”
Paul is an endurance sports nut (our phrase) and a keen cyclist. In addition to regular cycling jaunts in Italy and other European hotspots, he pedals his 60-mile round-trip to work two or three days a week, enjoys long dog walks with his springer spaniel – possibly the only dog breed that can keep up with him - and harbours an ambition to tackle the Transcontinental Race: a 2,000-mile cycle across Europe.

“I played for the Leicester Tigers rugby club in my youth. This was back in the days when the shirts were still cotton! My young family are now avid ‘Tigers fans themselves.”
What do you most enjoy about your role?
“I love talking to interesting people and learning about the incredible high-tech projects or technologies that are currently being developed. I really admire the talent of people in the sector, whether that’s technical directors with vast knowledge or super-talented graduates with a bright future ahead of them. I find each new person as inspiring as the last, and love being a part of their growth. I take pride in the clients and candidates who come back to me for advice, and the trust I’ve developed with them”.
